The Foo Fighters are one of the biggest bands of modern times, they are an American alternative rock band that was originally formed in 1994 by the former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl who is now the lead singer/guitarist, the Foo Fighters started out as a one-man project by Dave Grohl following the dissolution of his previous band. The band got its name from the UFOs and various aerial phenomena that were reported by Allied aircraft pilots during World War II, these were known as foo fighters.

Listed below are the seven studio albums that the Foo Fighters have released in the years since they first formed, these track lists are for the albums released and does not include some of the special edition albums that may include bonus tracks or videos , the albums are Foo Fighters (1995), The Colour and the Shape (1997), There Is Nothing Left to Lose (1999), One by One (2002), In Your Honor (2005), Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace (2007), and the new brilliant album Wasting Light (2011)

Foo Fighters is the self titled debut album, at the time the only official member of the newly formed band was Dave Grohl, he was a Kean song writer during his days with Nirvana and wrote and recorded the entire album himself except on "X-Static", which Greg Dulli played guitar) the album was created at Robert Lang Studios in Seattle, Washington in 1994, and It was released July 4, 1995 on Capitol Records through Grohl's imprint label, Roswell Records.

The Colour and the Shape is the Foo Fighters' second album. and was released on May 20, 1997, through Roswell / Capitol Records. the now popular Foo Fighters had this second album reach number three in the UK charts and number ten in the United States. The Colour and the Shape is the Foo Fighters' biggest U.S. selling album, and has sold over two million copies reportably, this album was nominated for 5 VMAs in 1997 and 1998 for the videos "Monkey Wrench" and "Everlong", and It was also a Grammy nominee for Best Rock Album in 1998.

There Is Nothing Left to Lose is the third studio album by the Foo Fighters, released November 2, 1999. this third album sees the first appearance of drummer Taylor Hawkins, and is often seen as a departure from the band's previous work, showcasing a softer, more experimental sound, early copies of this album included a temporary tattoo like the one featured on the albums artwork, this album has also re-released in Australia as a two-CD edition, which offers a second VCD disc of four videos and one bonus track called "Fraternity." in this edition the album has a picture of the Australian swimmer Michael Klim on the front wearing the temporary "FF" tattoo on his neck.

One by One is the fourth studio album by the Foo Fighters, released on October 22, 2002 on RCA. the album is the first to feature guitarist Chris Shiflett.

you will find that there are two different versions of this album released, one has a white cover and the other with a black cover, a Limited Edition was also released with both of the covers, the Limited Edition bonus DVD includes audio and video versions of the tracks "All My Life" and "Walking A Line", audio-only versions (stereo and 5.1 mixes) of "The One" and other special features, a double 10-inch vinyl version was also released, a later DVD-Audio release contained 5.1 mixes of every track.

In Your Honor is the fifth studio album by Foo Fighters, released on June 14, 2005 on BMG. It consists of two discs all of the tracks on the second disc are acoustic,

this is probably seen as one of their weakest albums as when their Greatest Hits album was released  in 2009 it only contains one track from the In Your Honor  album (this track being "Best of You"), which is the least amount of songs from a Foo Fighters album to be featured on the compilation.

Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace is the sixth studio album by the Foo Fighters, released on September 25, 2007.

The album debuted at the top of the UK album chart, selling 135,685 albums in its first week. The album also went platinum in its first week in both Australia and New Zealand. In the U.S., it entered the Billboard 200 album chart at #3, selling 168,000 copies in its first week, and has since been certified gold,as of April 14, 2011, it has sold 897,000 copies in US.

Wasting Light is the seventh studio album by the Foo Fighters, released April 12, 2011, on RCA Records, produced by Butch Vig, and described as the band's "heaviest album yet," Dave Grohl states that: "With (Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace) we were too concerned with being musical, now it's time for us to be a rock band again." this latest Foo Fighters album has seen the band go back to basics, the Wasting Light album has been recorded in Dave Grohl’s garage at his home in California’s San Fernando Valley, the album was recorded on analog tape without the use of computer software, this back to basics approach has reportably gave the album a much better sound,
