Manchester United have taken a gamble in signing the little known player Bebe, real name Tiago Manuel Dias Correia, This has been labeled as a Real "Rags to Riches" story as the player has gone from playing and living on the streets of Portugal to signing for one of Europe's biggest clubs,

The Young forward was signed by Manchester United for £7.4 million ($11.6 million) from the Portuguese club Vitoria Guimaraes, Bebe grew up in a children’s home, as his mother could not afford his upkeep, he grew up playing football on the streets before Estrela eventually signed him up however after one season with them they could not afford to pay him his wages so he briefly joined Vitoria Guimaraes in June where he played in just six friendly matches, within weeks after being noticed by Manchester United's ex assistant coach and current Portugal manager Carlos Queiroz, The Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson decided to sign the player as other big clubs were showing an interest in the young strikers talents.

2011-2012 season: Besiktas Loan

During the 2011-2012 season Bebe will spend the season on loan at Turkish side Besiktas, the loan period is for one season with Manchester United expecting the young player to develop and progress, it has been reported that Besiktas may have an option to buy the player at the end of this loan period yet United will ultimately decide his fate, if he shines in the Turkish league they will be reluctant to let him go.

Wednesday September 22, 2010: Carling Cup - 3rd Round: Scunthorpe United 2 - 5 Manchester United

Bebe made his first appearance in the Manchester united first team during a comfortable 5-2 win over Scunthorpe in the Carling Cup third round game, Although he did not grace the field until the 73rd minute as a substitution, he still managed to show the world some of his potential by making some fast paced and confident runs with the ball at his feet, the professional commentators of the game commented on his good balance when in control of the ball and believed that given more matches Bebe is sure to be a big hit.

Saturday October 2, 2010: Premier League: Sunderland 0 - 0 Manchester United

Bebe's first premier League appearance was as a 80th minute substitute against Sunderland, at the time the game was a goalless draw and United called upon for Bebe to try and clinch the win however the game stayed goalless.

Not only was this the game in which Bebe scored his first goal for United but it was also his first appearance at Old Trafford in front of the United home fans and his first start for them, his previous two games had been both away games and in both he was an on-coming substitute,
his lively performance saw him open the scoring early in the second half in a game that Manchester United won 3-2,

Babe's first taste of Champions League football was as a 63rd minute substitute, this was his fourth game for united and his third as a substitute however his potential as a top player was there for all to see, 14 minutes after being on the pitch Bebe had scored his first European goal and his second goal for United, it was a well composed finish after being put through by a wonderful defence splitting pass from Paul Scholes
